Guy Winkler Neal

Guy Winkler Neal, 87, of Auburn, died March 18, 2011, at a Russellville nursing home.

The Logan County native was born Oct. 7, 1923. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving with Patton’s Third Army. He was the owner of Neal Insurance Agency, where he was an agent for more than 30 years. He was a charter member of American Legion Post 258 in Auburn, a member of Auburn Masonic Lodge No. 274 (where his 60th year of membership was to be recognized in April), a member of the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels, past president of the Auburn Rotary Club and a member of Auburn Baptist Church.  Mr. Neal was a son of the late M.C. and Leola Estell Winkler Neal.

Funeral is at 2 p.m. today (March 20) at Young Funeral Home, Auburn chapel, with burial in Auburn Cemetery. Visitation is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to American Legion Post 258 or Auburn Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Martha Louise Ashby Neal; a son, Alan Neal of Auburn; two daughters, Susan Neal Clapp of Prattville, Ala., and Patti Haeberlin and her husband, Glenn, of Eddyville; nine grandchildren (Stephanie Neal Trautman (Marc), Brandon Neal (Penny), Ed Clapp (Candi), Jeff Neal (Sonya), Jennifer Clapp, Beth Neal Davis (Tim), Hannah Haeberlin, Jill Haeberlin, and Megan Haeberlin); and 11 great-grandchildren (Harper and Will Trautman, Lauren and Taylor Neal, Sarah and Wynn Clapp, Austin, Braydon and Keaton Neal, and Madison and Preston Davis).
